Culture, nature and food tour to Pedvāle and Kuldīga

In this tour, you will visit unique historical and natural attractions in Kurzeme and the widest waterfall in Europe. You will also be able to enjoy special, traditional Kurzeme region dishes and participate in the preparation process.

Pedvāle Museum is an ideal place for creative professionals, - sculptors, painters, printmakers, installation and performance artists, - who are free to express themselves in Pedvāle. Museum integrates the artistic and cultural heritage and the natural setting into a unified whole. It is situated in 100 hectares that are covered with fields, blooming meadows, gentle slopes and deep ravines, rolling hills, a winding river, forests with birds and wildlife.

Kuldīga, also called the pearl of Kurzeme, boasts distinctive architecture and charming atmosphere. Through the very centre of the Kuldīga Old Town there runs the little River Alekšupīte. A 4,5m high waterfall on the stream is the highest in Latvia. Kuldīga brick bridge is one of the longest bridges of its type in Europe.

Venta Rapid is the widest waterfall ledge in Europe. During spring, it is possible to watch the salmon and sturgeon flying up the ledge. Because of this, the town of Kuldīga is known to be the “place where they catch salmon in the air”.

You will also be able to learn how to prepare a traditional Kurzeme region dish- Sklandrausis (Latvian vegetable tart). It is the first Latvian dish that was granted “Traditional Speciality Guaranteed” status by the European Commission, listing it along other European specialities like Champagne, Gorgonzola and Camembert.
